After several years of teaching laboratory science in the USA, Walker started his English teaching career at Doshisha University as a guest lecturer in the commerce department. There, he discovered his love for teaching English and then moved to the English Boot Camp Corporation to develop new English courses as well as lead English communication classes for Japanese business people at all English levels. He developed courses for short-term English improvement (boot camp style), English pronunciation, long-term English development (“gym” style), and corporate training. Walker develops his courses by taking a scientific approach to English and communication learning. He uses knowledge from fields of linguistics and psychology to build his courses to be as effective ways possible.

Walker’s main area of expertise is course development, but in coaching and teaching his specialty areas are English communication skills, English pronunciation, business English, and technical/logical English. His previous work includes creating and teaching courses for both executives and new hires at companies such as Asahi, Toto, ANA, Shiseido, Metal One, and more.

Walker is now in a doctoral (Ph.D.) course in Physical Chemistry at the University of Tokyo, where he researches new techniques for performing Raman spectroscopy. As a hobby, he also does English lyrics translation and vocal coaching for Japanese singers.
